The entry-level hatchback segment comprises of Tata Tiago, Hyundai Santro, Renault Kwid and Maruti WagonR, all cars fall under Rs 6 lakh and offer a plethora of premium features. But to understand how these cars are performing in real-world, let’s take a look at the June Sales for Hyundai Santro, Tiago and Kwid.
Maruti Suzuki WagonR tops the chart any day in sales for June and then comes the Tiago followed by Renault Kwid and then the recently launched Hyundai Santro. The total units for Tata Tiago stood at 5,537, the Kwid at 4,360 and a total of 4,141 units of the Santro.
Comparing to the June 2018 sales, Tata Tiago saw a de-growth of 34% while Renault Kwid saw only a meagre of 12% downfall in terms of sales. Mind you, Renault India mostly counts on the Kwid sales. The company is also counting upon its 7-seater car, the Triber in terms of sales.

Hyundai Santro and Tata Tiago are the two of the most feature equipped car off the lot followed by Maruti WagonR and Renault Kwid.

Currently, Hyundai Santro is available in one engine option, which gets petrol and CNG as fuel options. The 1.1-litre petrol motor churns out 68 bhp of power on tap with a peak torque of 99 Nm. There is a 10% drop in power figures and the CNG stands at 58 bhp with 84 Nm of torque. The hatchback is available in both AMT and manual gearbox.
Tata Tiago is offered in both petrol and diesel engines. The 1.2-litre Revotron engine produces a total power of 84 bhp with 114 Nm of peak torque. The turbocharged diesel engine churns out 69 bhp with a torque of 140 Nm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual gearbox and an AMT.

Renault Kwid makes 54 bhp with 72 Nm of peak torque from a 0.8-litre petrol motor. The bigger 1.0L engine produces 67 bhp with 91 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed MT and an AMT gearbox.
Antilock Braking System, Electronic Brakeforce distribution, reverse parking sensors, child safety door lock, seat belt reminders, high speed alert system comes as standard across all cars. Driver airbag comes as standard on the Kwid and Santro while Tata Tiago gets dual front airbags across all trims.
