The 7-seater, Renault Triber comes with four airbags – driver, co-driver and front passenger side; making it the segment first feature.
Renault Triber recently made its global debut and the India launch is scheduled for August 2019. The 7-seater from Renault is based on a modified version of Kwid’s CMF-A platform which brings modularity to the car yet keeping it conventional.
If reports are to be believed then Renault Triber will be priced at a competitive price range of Rs 4.44 lakh for the base trim, however, we expect this will be a launch strategy and later the prices will be increased.
On the outside, Renault Triber carries a distinct look and upfront is a three slat, U-shaped grille with the company’s logo. The sweptback headlamps have projector units inside and LED DRLs on the bumper. To give the car a certain character, body cladding and silver skids plate do the justice.

The body cladding continues onto the sides and over the wheel arches and Renault Triber sits on 15-inch alloy wheels. The side profile of the car looks like a scaled-down Lodgy and the C-pillar sports a large glass section. The rear profile ends up having a subtle design with horizontal two-part eagle beak tail lamps and Triber badging stretching across the boot lid.
Renault Triber is the only car in its segment which comes with a modular seating configuration of 5-seat, 6-seat and 7-seat arrangement. The dashboard design looks fresh with dual colour tone and a new steering wheel. One can spot a large 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The car also hosts keyless entry, push-button start, power windows, refrigerated centre console, AC vents and power sockets for all the three rows, rear wash wiper and among others.
Safety features onboard include ABS with EBD, Four Airbags – driver, passenger and front sides: a segment first for the top trim, high speed alert system, front seat belt reminder, rear parking sensors, three point seat belts for all the three rows and will come with a reverse camera on offer.

The Renault Triber houses a 1.0L, three-cylinder petrol engine which churns out 72PS of power at 6,250 rpm and 96Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm. The power and torque figures are fine for a 1.0L, three-cylinder engine but seem a little low for the car it has been put on.
The engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual or an EASY-R AMT gearbox options. Renault says the new motor offers the right balance between performance and economy. This engine is completely new for Renault India’s lineup and it comes with dual VVT system that allows for responses at all revs.
As of now the only direct competition to the Triber is Datsun GO+, which is also an extended trim of the GO hatchback. But the newly launched Triber carries a lot more premiumness and features so in near future it will definitely go against the upcoming Maruti Suzuki WagonR 7-seater.
