MG eZS will be brought in the Indian market through the CKD route and it will directly rival with the Hyundai Kona which is scheduled to launch this month.
MG Motors recently launched its first SUV, Hector and the car has got over 12k bookings since its launch. That said, the waiting period of the SUV is over 6 months for some trims. Now the company is gearing up for its second launch in India with the all-electric SUV, MG eZS.
This will be the country’s first electric SUV after the Hyundai Kona launch this month. The launch details for the MG eZS in India have not been out but the reports suggest that it will be launched later this year. The expected price tag will see a premium of Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
This spy shot was spotted in Vadodara recently. As far as the design element goes, the SUV will a mesh patterned grille with chrome inserts, charging port under the front grille, body cladding all around to give it a sporty look. The SUV sits on five-spoke alloy wheels, gets sweptback projector headlamps with LED DRL’s and LED tail lights.

Engine specifications are still not known but reports suggest that it will get a driving range of up to 300 km on a single charge with a 46.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. It produces 150 bhp with a peak torque of 350 Nm.
The interiors will host a load of premium features like dual-zone climate control, leather upholstery, a large touchscreen infotainment system with i-SMART technology like seen on the Hector. Connectivity features like Voice Command, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will also come.
Furthermore, a large panoramic sunroof, keyless entry, power adjustable front seats can be expected. Safety on board will include ABS with EBD, Traction Control, Hill Hold Control, ESP, Rear Parking Sensors and Airbags.
Mind you, the pricing for the eSUV will be above Rs 20 lakh and this is because the car is brought through the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route. It will be assembled at its Halol plant where MG Motor India has made an investment of Rs 2,200 crore.

The manufacturer will a testing track, body shop, parts distribution centre, press shop, a new training facility, assembly line at this plant. Hector and eZS will be sold via 120 sales and service outlets in the process of setting up in the Indian market.
Recently, the brand tied up with Fortum and under their partnership, they will open 50 charging stations for their upcoming electric vehicle eZS in a total of five cities. Delhi and NCR, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Ahmedabad will be the list of cities where the set up will be opened by September this year.
