Kia Carnival will directly compete with Toyota Innova Crysta and the MPV will be premium and be more than just a people mover’s car. Let’s Find out what the upcoming vehicle has to offer.
The South Korean manufacturer is starting its line up with a range of SUVs and MPV first and that said the Seltos, its first SUV will be launched in India on August 22. The second in line vehicle scheduled to launch in India will be the Kia Carnival.
Kia Carnival will be previewed with a mild face-lifted version at the 2020 Auto Expo India and will be launched in early 2020. The MPV will go against the popular Toyota Innova Crysta.
Kia Carnival measures 5,115 mm in length, 1,985 mm in width, 1,755 mm in height and 3,060 mm in wheelbase. Sure it is bigger in dimensions than the Innova Crysta and it will be more premium than the Toyota. Even on the inside, the Carnival offers more space with seven-seat, eight-seat and nine-seat seating configuration.

Talking about the inside, the Carnival available globally comes with dual tone, beige and black colour schemes. The instrument cluster and centre console of the MPV sees piano black inserts and silver accents to give it a neat and subtle look. The three-spoke Kia signature multi-function steering wheel looks fresh and so does the dials on the instrument cluster.
What grabs the eyeballs is the availability of two large 10.1-inch screens for entertainment purposes and easy entry to the second and third row with the help of sliding doors. We expect the former to come to the Indian shores once the car gets launched.
Talking about the features of the Carnival, it will get the UVO-connected car technology like the Seltos. A large touchscreen infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will come. Availability of dual-sunroof and three-zone climate control along with memory function for driver’s seat can be expected.
The safety features list available in Kia globally includes Dual-Front Airbags, Knee Airbags, Side and Curtain Airbags, Anti Lock Braking System, Electronic Brake Distribution, Blind Spot Detection System, 360-degree Parking Camera and Rear Parking Sensors.

Transmission for the same will be a 6-speed manual gearbox, however, a 6-speed automatic can be expected too. There is another 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine which produces a whopping 270 bhp along with 380 Nm of torque.
Since Kia Carnival will be brought through CKD route, it will import some taxes and will eventually be a little bit pricier than the Innova Crysta. We expect the prices for the upcoming MPV can be placed around Rs 22 lakh to Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Tata Harrier 7-seat can also be a competition for the Carnival.
