The Mahindra price hike affects the Scorpio, Bolero, TUV300 and the KUV100 quite significantly whereas the Marazzo and XUV500 are marginally affected.
Mahindra has just announced that a price hike for most of its SUVs. From July 1, Mahindra SUVs will become pricier by upto Rs. 36,000 depending upon the model and the variant. Mahindra attributes this price hike to the addition of new safety features across their entire lineup of SUVs so as to comply with the upcoming AIS 145 safety norms.
These new safety features will see the addition of dual airbags, seatbelt reminder for the driver and the co-driver, rear parking sensors and a high speed alert system as standard across the entire portfolio. In fact, all manufacturers will have to update their vehicles with these safety features before October 1 to be able to sell their cars in the country.
Mahindra has not yet released a variant-wise price breakup for each of their models after this update. However, they did mention that the Scorpio, Bolero, TUV300 and KUV100 would be the most affected by this price hike, maximum of upto Ts. 36,000, as these SUVs did not come with most of these features. The Marazzo and the XUV500 will see a marginal increase in prices.

On the other hand, the XUV300 and Mahindra’s flagship, the Alturas wouldn’t see any price hike at all as these are comparatively newer models and they already came with the said safety features as standard.

Consequently, we are taking a price hike across some of our passenger vehicles, effective July 1, 2019.”
