The Renault Kwid has achieved this incredible sales figure in just a little over three years. It has always been a great value for money for what it offers.
The Renault Kwid has just crossed the 3-lakh sales mark here in the Indian market. The Kwid hatchback was first introduced in our market back in 2015 and since then, it has only received minor updates and some special variants along the way. The Kwid’s high percentage of localisation in the manufacturing process, as much as 98%, has helped to keep costs low and sales more, according to Renault.
The Renault Kwid comes pretty well equipped too. It has a lot of segment first features like the 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital instrument cluster, one-touch lane change indicators and speed-dependent volume control, just to name a few. In fact, it is one of the cheapest cars in the country to be equipped with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
The Kwid also received some updates at the beginning of this year with regard to safety features. It saw the introduction of ABS with EBD, driver’s airbag, a driver and passenger seatbelt reminder and a speed alert system as standard across all variants. ABS had already become a mandate on all cars from April 1, 2019 and all the other safety features will be mandatory on all cars manufactured in India from July 1, 2019.

Renault has already been working of the Kwid facelift and is expected to be launched by the end of this year. Renault is also working on the upcoming Triber, a sub-4m, seven-seater car that will be revealed on 19th of June, to be launched later in July. The Renault Kwid is based on the CMF-A platform, the same as the new Triber is based upon.

The Renault Kwid’s three lakh sales figure certainly goes a long way in proving the popularity of the car. The sales figure within its time period translates to about 10,000 units a month which is a great achievement. It is indeed a great product in terms of value, design, features and even practicality, snatching the top-spot several times from its key rival in the segment, the Maruti Suzuki Alto.
