KTM Duke 790 has once again ditched the Indian riders as the launch is now delayed. It has been speculated to be launched right from December 2018.
KTM India looks like an expert in delaying its motorcycles. 390 Adventure has been delayed for a long time now. The launch of KTM Duke 790 also stands delayed, as per fresh reports.
Autocar reports that the launch has been delayed due to homologation processes. Now, the launch has been shifted to early 2020. That means it would come with a BS-6 compliant engine.
Earlier, in February, the Duke 790 was spotted inside a Bajaj warehouse with other bikes. The test mule was seen without any camouflage, which led us to blieve that the launch is near.

Duke 790 is already available in the global market. In India, it is likely to be bought as a CKD unit, which some localization onboard. The smaller KTM bikes are manufactured from Bajaj’s plant in Chakan.
It comes with a 799cc liquid-cooled twin-cylinder DOHC engine, that produces 105 BHP at 9000 RPM and 86 Nm at 8000 RPM. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed Slip Assist clutch with a bi-directional quick-shifter.
The engine gets a 270-degree firind order and two counter-balancer shafts. Ride-by-wire throttle and Four Riding modes – Sport, Street, Rain and Track – are offered for better performance.
Suspension is handled by 43mm WP USD forks at the front and a pre-load adjustable monoshock from WP at the back. Duke 790 gets Switchable ABS with SuperMoto mode, Traction Control, Cornering ABS and Motor Slip Regulation.

Features onboard include split LED headlamps, LED tail lights, TFT instrument console, Bluetooth-Connectivity wit Navigation, Music Control and Incoming Call Alert and Split Seats.
We expect its prices to be in the range of Rs 7.5 Lakhs (ex-showroom). As you see our price estimations are low, because of some localization expected on it. It will go against the likes of Kawasaki Z900, Triumph Street Twin, MV Agusta Brutale, Ducati Monster 821 and Suzuki GSX-S750.
