Toyota Glanza has been launched in India and it takes its position in the premium hatchback segment. It is basically a rebadged Maruti Baleno.
Toyota’s all-new premium hatchback, Glanza has finally been launched. It is priced at Rs 7.29 Lakhs to Rs 8.90 Lakhs and is only available in two variants. The hatchback is placed above Etios Liva in the lineup.
Yes, you might see that it looks very identical to the Maruti Baleno. As per the global partnership between Toyota and Suzuki, both the manufacturers will exchange technologies, cars, platforms and engines.
At the front, it gets the same fascia but with a Toyota badging. The bonnet lines and the side carving is the same of Baleno. The alloy wheels are also the same with the different badging. At the rear, everything expect the Toyota and Glanza logo are the same.

Glanza is available in two BS-6 compliant engine options – a 1.2 Litre DualJet and the 1.2 Litre K12B petrol engine. Both the engines also come on the Baleno in the same spec. The DualJet engine uses a mild-hybrid system with a lithium-ion battery.
The K12B engine produces 83 BHP and 113 Nm of peak torque. The motor comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox with an option of a CVT gearbox. The other engine that produces 90 BHP and 113 Nm of torque will only come with a 5-speed MT.
Toyota Glanza will be available in two variants – G and V – making four trims in all. Both the variants get 5-speed MT and CVT, while the G is the base variant and the V being the top-spec.
The mild-hybrid engine returns a mileage of 23.88 kmpl. The CVT variants offer 19.56 kmpl and the naturally aspirated petrol engine with manual gearbox offers 21 kmpl.
The first product of this partnership is the Toyota Glanza, which has now been launched first in India. Many more models from this partnership are going to come.
Features onboard include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Automatic Climate Control, Steering Mounted audio controls, rear defogger, tilt and telescopic steering adjustment, LED Projector headlamps and much more.
Safety features include dual airbags, ABS, EBD, Rear Parking Sensors, Speed Alert System as standard fitment. The V variant is also available with a rear parking camera.
Glanza is available in five colour options – Cafe White, Sportin Red, Insta Blue, Gaming Grey and Enticing Silver.
As we know, the Toyota Glanza goes against the likes of Maruti Baleno, Hyundai i20 Elite, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo. In a couple of months, we will get to know how it performs in the market.
