The MG Maxus D90 is a full size SUV that will take on the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. It has classic SUV styling and will come loaded with features.
MG Motors has already build up quite some fan following with the launch of the new Hector in India. The company has no intention of slowing down its momentum. They have already confirmed the launch of the eZS electric SUV later this year and before Diwali 2020, MG is expected to bring another full size SUV to India – the Maxus D90 – from its parent company SAIC’s portfolio to India.
Being a full size SUV, it will take on the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. Like its rivals, the D90 will also be based on a light truck platform with typical boxy SUV design with a large front cowl. It will also feature adaptive LED headlamps and dual-tone alloy wheels which will range from 17 inches to massive 21 inches.
The new SUV will sure be big, bigger than the Hector, which itself is no small SUV at all. With dimensions of 5,005mm in length, 1,932mm in width, 1,875mm in height and 2,950mm of wheelbase, it also gets a rather spacious and long cabin. It is even bigger in every part than the Mahindra Alturas G4.
As we already saw with the interiors of the Hector, it was loaded with every goody you could possibly imagine in this segment and then some more. Similarly, the D90 SUV will come loaded to the brim. The China-spec Maxus D90 gets features like a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster, cooled/heated seats, three-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera and more.

On the safety front, the India-spec model will surely get six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP and Isofix child seat mounts. However, it is uncertain if advanced safety features like autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assist and the automatic parking function which are available on the international model, will make it to India or not.
In the Chinese market, the D90 is sold with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine which churns out 224hp and 360Nm of peak torque and the engine is either mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. For India, it could also come with a diesel powertrain which would certainly make it more viable in the country. Like other SUVs in this class, it will come with four-wheel drive option and a low-range transfer case. It will also boast of 210 mm of ground clearance and will come with seven drive modes – Automatic, Economy, Motion, Snow, Sandy, Mud and Rock – giving it some real off-road ability.

When it comes to India, it will certainly be called by a different name under the MG Motor’s branding and top-spec of this SUV is expected to be priced around Rs. 30-35 lakhs. At that price point, it will stack up well against its competitors, and this segment will again see some fare action.
