As we know, Maruti is launching a micro-SUV in India, to rival Mahindra KUV100 and Renault Kwid Climber. The upcoming car is expected by this festive season.
This year is going to be big for Maruti, as it has planned to launch updated models this year. All the models will be updated with BS-6 engines and some will get mild facelifts as well.
The manufacturer launched WagonR this year and new Ertiga and Ciaz last year. Well, as we know, a new car is being developed, and reports suggest that the launch is scheduled for Festive Season 2019.
The upcoming micro-SUV from India was once spied testing in India, under heavy camouflage. The design language looked similar to Alto, but a bigger car evolved from it.

If launched, it will definitely come with the BS-6 compliant engine, mostly the 1.2 Litre DualJet petrol engine from Baleno. The premium hatchback is now BS-6 compliant and uses the new engine with SHVS mild-hybrid system.
There are less chances of the Maruti Micro SUV equipped with a diesel engine. Premium models like Ciaz, Ertiga, S-Cross and Vitara Brezza are expected to get the new 1.5 Litre diesel engine, that too sometime after the emission norms kick in.
All the smaller models like Swift, Ignis, Dzire and Baleno would not be available with diesel engines anymore. So, naturally, the micro SUV is likely to get a petrol engine only with options for MT as well as AMT.

There are high speculations that Maruti might revive the ‘Zen’ brand with this car. Afterall, the hatchback was a very popular car back then, famous for its peppy engine and cute looks.
With this, the manufacturer will cover all the main four-wheeler segments in India; right from the entry-level hatchback to SUV, from Alto to S-Cross. All of its cars are priced under Rs 15 Lakhs, which is the most favoured budget in India.
