Tata Motors will discontinue the production of models which will not suffice with the safety norms
Recently Tata announced that it will discontinue the production of smaller diesel engines which includes cars like Tata Tiago, Tigor, Zest and Bolt. Now the reports suggest that some variants of Tata Safari, Zest and Bolt will be discontinued.
Reports say that the variants which do not comply with the safety norms will be stopped. The base variant LX and top-end variant VX 4×4 of Safari are discontinued. Similarly, XE & XM variant of Zest and Bolt has been discontinued in both petrol and diesel engines.
The remaining models will continue to be on sale as they feature both dual airbags and ABS as standard features. Come July 1, additional safety features like driver and co-driver seat belt warning, rear parking sensors, speed-alert system and central locking with the manual ride will be made compulsory. It is expected that the remaining models of these cars will get upgraded safety measures.

The discontinued variants of the car will continue to be on sale as long as the stock last. Tata Safari, Bolt and Zest have been suffering due to poor sales but Tata has still retained them in their line-up of vehicles.
Following the safety norms, the updated crash norms will come into effect from October 1 and then we will see which model will be phased out completely from Tata’s unit. Tata Zest scored 4 stars out of 5 in the global NCAP crash tests, we can expect it to remain in the list.

Tata Motors is rebuilding on bringing new products in their line up and focusing on a much youthful design which attracts more buyers. This means that the slow and ageing models get discontinued with bland or no design. Tata Harrier, upcoming Tata Altroz, Tata Buzzard (7-seater SUV) among other are some of the examples of new age design.
