Ford Ecosport Thunder Edition will launch soon and it’ll be Ford idea to stick to its place in the sub-4-metre compact SUV.
Ford Ecosport is the oldest in the sub-4 metre compact SUV segment and the car has seen many cosmetic changes and facelift to be in the competition. It was topping the charts until Maruti Brezza arrived and overtook the title.
Now several other competitors like Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Honda WR-V and the new Hyundai XUV300 are taking over the compact SUV market by storm and Ford Ecosport lags behind a lot. Ecosport facelift was launched in November 2017 and a signature edition last year but the sales are hitting quite lately.
So to step up the game, Ford has introduced a thunder edition to the Ecosport which doesn’t receive any design changes but does look fresh. For starters, the Thunder Edition adapts the black theme and mostly it is sticker updates. One part of the bonnet sees a black wrap, headlamps and the mesh grille now sports black treatment.

Moving on to the side, the black cladding covers the bumpers and sides while the roof rails, B-pillar and wing mirrors receive black treatment. The alloy wheels also get an all-black theme and the rear of the car also gets necessary changes.
The interiors of the car do not receive any major changes but subtle changes like the black and orange seats as seen in the images.
Currently, the Ecosport is available in 3-engine options, two petrol and one diesel. The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine generating 121 bhp with 150Nm of torque. It is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission or 6-speed automatic.

The second petrol is the 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor churning out 124bhp with 171Nm of torque. It is available with an only 5-speed gearbox. The 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine produces 99bhp with 205Nm of torque. It gets a 5-speed manual transmission.
Ford Ecosport thunder edition will sit above the standard Titanium variant and will be priced at about Rs 11.40 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
