The MG Hector is loaded with features from nose to tail. It features eSim connectivity with a host of other fancy gadgetry which are really unique in the segment.
British car maker, MG Motors is just round the corner from launching their first car in India, the MG Hector SUV, on the 15th of May, 2019. There has been much hype and talk around the brand for months now and as the launch is getting nearer, the excitement seems to be buzzing all the more.
The company had already announced commencement of production of the vehicle at their Halol plant in Gujarat some time ago and even released a video of the fully assembled Hector rolling off the production line. With the launch dates nearing, demo vehicles have started arriving at dealerships and people have been sneaking about to check out the vehicle in flesh.
On account of one such person named Gaurav Churiwal who got an early first impression of the Hector SUV, here’s what you can expect from the upcoming MG Hector:
Exterior
What strikes you first is the design of the car. Sure we have seen this dual headlamp set-up in the Harrier already, but the face looks very dominating and bold in the MG Hector. The LED lamps on top are long, sleek and swept back with the main cluster down below which look equally imposing and unique. The Hector is also a very large SUV, larger than its competitors and that sure is a good thing. At the rear, the LED tail lamps resemble bits of an Audi Q3 and the silver claddings on the front and rear bumpers with 17 inch alloy wheels give it the true stance of an SUV.

Interior
However, it is on the interior where the Hector is making the biggest news. The second row has oodles of space and probably is the best in class. The boot is huge as well and when you fold down the second row with just a push of a button, you get a completely flat bed for all that you might want to stack in. Oh, you can also put the seats back upright with just a push of the button as well.
The biggest feature highlight of the MG Hecor would be the 10.4 inch vertically stacked infotainment system. This is the largest infotainment screen size in the segment and has been reported to be working rather well. The Hector features iSmart OS which is based on Android and comes with an array of connectivity and convenience features with over the air updates. It’s a very versatile interface to interact with and the AI assisted voice command feature works rather brilliantly. Steering mounted control, fine quality black leather upholstery and a digital instrument cluster are a few other highlights.

Powertrain
The MG Hector will have two powertrain options. It will come with a 1.5L, turbocharged, petrol engine and a 2.0L, 4-cylinder diesel engine. Both engines will come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The petrol will also come with a mild hybrid variant which is said to be 12% more efficient than the normal petrol variant and will be mated to a manual or an automatic transmission.
