Alike Tata which bought Jaguar and Land Rover, Mahindra & Mahindra taking a similar bold step and signed a deal with Ssangyong Motors to acquire 70 % stake in it last year.
Ever since then it has been in news what products will be there in India from Ssangyong’s stable and how expensive they would be. There were no spotting of any Ssangyong vehicles on Indian roads making us think when will they finally arrive, until one of our fellow blog managed to get exclusive pictures of Ssangyong Rexton SUV in India.

With months in anticipation it is now being assumed that Mahindra will reveal Ssangyong Rexton and Ssangyong Korando crossover at the upcoming 2012 Auto Expo. Since Rexton is a much bigger SUV than Korando, it is believed that Korando will be launched first somewhere in 2012 followed by Rexton.

The car was spotted near Nashik with registered number plate. It was not a surprise as Mahindra’s assembly facility is in Nashik and one of the officials could be using it.
On the technical front, Rexton is expected to come equipped with a 2.7 litre turbocharged CRDI diesel engine powerful enough to develop 184 BHP of max power and a whopping 402 Nm of peak torque. The engine will be coupled with a 5 speed manual transmission while an automatic transmission option will be made available later.
As far as the pricing is concerned being a larger and upmarket SUV it could be priced well above Rs.17 Lakh rupees.
