MG Hector already in mass production; official unveiling on 15th May 2019, bookings likely to start after the unveiling.
Morris Garage (MG) Motors will launch the Hector in June 2019. The upcoming SUV will give competition to already established cars like Mahindra XUV500, Jeep Compass and the Tata Harrier.
With the launch date so near, the bookings for MG Hector are likely to commence in a few weeks after the official unveiling on 15th May. The mass production of the Hector has already begun in India. There will be a total of 50 dealers at the start who will facilitate the process to make bookings easier for consumers.
MG Hector will first be launched in five-seat configuration initially to take a dig at already established premium SUV’s in the market. The spilt-headlamp design which keeps LED DRL’s on the top and LED Headlights at the bottom gives the car a more agile and upmarket look.

The SUV from MG Motors will be powered by petrol and diesel engines respectively. The 1.5L Turbocharged petrol motor will churn out 143bhp of power with 250Nm of torque, the 2.0L FCA sourced diesel engine will produce about 173bhp with a peak torque of 350Nm.
Also, there will be a 48V mild hybrid engine too which claims to be more efficient than the turbocharged petrol engine. The cars will be mated to 6-speed manual transmission for both turbocharged petrol and diesel engine. However, the option of a dual-clutch automatic gearbox can be seen on the turbocharged petrol engine.
MG Hector packs with a long list of features like a 360-degree camera, key-less entry, 6-way power adjustable driver’s seat, push-button start, Tyre pressure monitoring system and a Harman infinity sound system.
MG Hector will sit at a bracket of Rs 15-20 lakh, ex-showroom. The above features can differ with the multiple variants of the SUV and thus will be known as the launch day itself.
