Our dealership sources have confirmed that Toyota Rush will be launched in India by 2020-21. It will go against Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks and Renault Captur.
Earlier reports suggested that Toyota might launch an all-new SUV in India, other than Rush and CH-R. However, our dealership sources have revealed that the upcoming SUV is indeed Toyota Rush.
Toyota Rush is a compact SUV, which will go against Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur and Nissan Kicks. The dealerships have started calling it a ‘Mini Fortuner’.
The SUV is reportedly scheduled to launch in India by 2020-21. We were expecting an earlier launch date, however for the next two years, Toyota already has a lot of upcoming cars.

Rush is speculated to launch in India from a very long time. It would be the first car from the manufacturer in this particular vehicle segment.
Toyota is mainly popular with premium models, like Fortuner, Innova Crysta and Camry Hybrid. These three models contribute the most to the manufacturer’s sales figures.
Toyota Rush will use the new TNGA platform, which is stronger. The monocoque chassis will ensure that the car is lightweight. Further, this platform will also be shared by Suzuki for their future SUVs.
Most likely, Rush will be available with petrol as well as a diesel engine. The unavailability of the diesel derivative in the global markets delayed its launch in the Indian market.

We expect the 1.5 Litre petrol engine from Yaris on the Toyota Rush. The engine produces 107 BHP of power and 141 Nm of peak torque. There are no details on the specifications of the diesel engine.
Further, the dealerships have suggested that it could be priced near Rs 13 Lakhs onwards. However, we expect the price range to start off from Rs 10 Lakhs going up to Rs 14 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
