The new Triumph Speed Twin is all set to make a debut in India this month. The modern classic gets the 1200cc engine from Thruxton R.
Triumph Motorcycles India is launching the Speed Twin in India on 24th April. It looks very similar to the more affordable Street Twin, with some minor cosmetic changes and a comparatively bigger engine.
Speed Twin uses the engine, performance powers and features that are found on the Thruxton R cafe racer. This bike is a modern classic roadster, meant for comfortable rides.
Triumph Speed Twin gets a 1200cc liquid-cooled 8-valve parallel-twin cylinder engine. The motor is capable of producing 96 BHP at 6750 RPM and 112 Nm at 4950 RPM. The motor comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox with wet multi-plate clutch.

The bike uses ride-by-wire throttle, which ensures that performance and efficiency are offered perfectly. It is available in three riding modes – Sport, Road and Rain.
For suspension, Speed Twin uses 41mm cartridge forks at the front and twin shock absorbers with adjustable preload at the back. The suspension travel at both the ends stands at 120mm.
Braking duties are handled by twin 305mm Brembo disc brakes at the front and a single 220mm disc at the back. Dual-channel ABS with traction control is available as standard fitment.

Features onboard include LCD multi-functional instrument pack with analogue speedometer, distance to empty, trip computer, heated grips on handlebars, traction control, throttle modes and Tyre Pressure Monitoring system.
Globally, the Triumph Speed Twin is available in Silver Ice and Storm Grey, Korosi Red and Storm Grey, and Jet Black. We expect all the colours to be available with the Indian version as well.
The 270-degrees set twin silencers are different from the Street Twin. So are the alloy wheels and graphics. However, on a bigger picture, Speed Twin looks identical to the Street Twin.
