Jaguar Land Rover is going to launch its first hybrid vehicle in India by the end of 2019. Its all-electric crossover, the I-Pace will arrive next year.
Jaguar Land Rover has today announced that they are going to begin the electrification of their portfolio in our country starting this year. The Tata-owned British marquee is going to launch its first hybrid vehicle in India later this year. The company has also confirmed that it is going to launch the I-Pace, its globally acclaimed all-electric crossover in India during the second half of 2020.

The company is encouraged by the introduction of FAME-II by the Government of India and its focus on the expansion of the charging infrastructure in the country. This is bound to help with faster adoption of all kinds of Electric Vehicles in due course.”
At the moment, the portfolio of Jaguar in India includes the likes of the XE, XF and XJ sedan. The F-Pace SUV and the F-Type roadster.
The Jaguar I-Pace was recently awarded the title of the European car of the year. This all-electric crossover comes with a 90Kw battery. This offers this car a driving range of 480 km. 0-100 km/h is achievable on a matter of 4.5 seconds. This EV is powered by two electric motors (one for each axle). These provide a combined power output of 392 BHP. With a 10KW rapid charger, the Jaguar I-Pace can be charged to full in a matter of just 40 minutes.
When launched in India, the Jaguar I-Pace is likely to retail at a price which will be upward of INR 50 lakh.
India is going to witness the launch of several all-electric cars starting from late this year. Hyundai and MG have confirmed the launch of their respective all-electric SUV in the Indian market this year. Both are expected to fall in-between the price range of INR 15 lakh to INR 20 lakh. Lower down the fiscal food-chain, Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch an all-electric car within the price range of INR 10 lakh.
