The Tata Buzzard or Cassini is the seven-seater version of the Tata Harrier. It is expected to launch in India by the end of this year.
For Tata Motors, the Harrier is turning out to be quite a potent product. Within two months of its launch, this compact SUV has managed to garner decent sales and bookings numbers. A few things which are working in the favour of this SUV are- an aggressive price, stylish design and a feature packed and premium cabin.
Tata Motors is planning to further bank on the success of the Harrier by introducing a seven-seater version of the same in the Indian market. Codenamed as the H7X, we saw the first glimpse of this vehicles’ European spec version at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Named as the Buzzard, this seven-seater SUV is likely to get an all-new nametag when it makes its debut in India.

The Tata Buzzard is quite identical to the Harrier in terms of its interior as well as exterior design. On the inside, the major difference comes in the shape of the extra row of third seats. While on the outside, we see this SUV come with an all-together different rear fascia. The coupe-like sloping roofline of the Harrier no longer exists. Instead, we have a traditional boxy appearance in order to free the required headroom for the third-row occupants.

In terms of features, the Tata Buzzard will match the Harrier, variant by variant, considering if Tata Motors decides to launch the former in multiple variants. The Harrier currently misses out on some premium features, such as an electric sunroof and electrically operated driver’s seat. We can see these and a couple more make their way into the line-up.
The Tata Harrier is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine. This engine has been borrowed from the Jeep Compass. However, 30 BHP has been shaved off this engine and hence in the Harrier, it churns out 140 BHP of power along with 350 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include just a 6-speed manual transmission unit.

When the Tata Buzzard (Cassini) seven-seater SUV is launched in India, it is going to get the same 2.0-litre diesel engine. However, the power output will stand at 170 BHP along with 350 Nm of peak torque. In addition to the 6-speed manual gearbox, this seven-seater SUV is also going to get a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
