Bajaj Qute is all set to replace the auto rickshaws in India. The quadricycle has started reaching dealerships and the test rides have fully commenced.
Bajaj Auto has finally made the Qute quadricycle available for personal use. Earlier, the government restricted it only for commercial purposes. It was first showcased six years ago in India.
Qute has started reaching Bajaj Intracity (Commercial) showrooms. The test rides have also begun. The primary reason for launching it is because it will be a better upgrade to the auto rickshaws.
It is available in petrol and CNG options. While the conventional fuel goes for Rs 2.63 Lakhs, the CNG version is priced at Rs 2.83 Lakhs (ex-showroom prices).

Bajaj QUte uses a 216cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder TwinSpark ignition engine. The motor is tuned to deliver 13 BHP at 5500 RPM and 18.9 Nm of peak torque. The CNG variant delivers 10.6 BHP and 16.1 Nm of peak torque.
The petrol engine delivers fuel economy of 35 kmpl and the CNG variants delivers 45 kmpl. The fuel tank capacity stands at 8 Litres, whereas the CNG capacity is 35 kgs.
Bajaj Qute is the first quadricycle in India. These types of cars weigh less than 475 kgs, get a small engine and is purely for the sake of intra-city travelling. They are not meant for the highways.

The top speed achievable on Qute is 70 kmph. It comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox with a sequential transmission on the dashboard. As the engine is mounted in the rear, the front bonnet offers luggage space.
Features onboard include large halogen headlamps, USB Charging port, a music player, lockable storage compartments, driver adjustable seat, centre-placed analogue-digital console and 60:40 split rear bench.
What is does not get is air conditioning, up-down windows and better adjustment for the seats. The rear seats are just fine for two fully grown adults.

For safety, it does not get anything except than seat belts. Safety norms for quadricycles are different and for clearing it, Bajaj Qute gets a high strength monocoque body with impact-resistant plastic closures.
