Starting January 2020, Honda Cars India will start upgrading its entire model line-up from the current BS-IV engines to BS-VI complaint units.
Stringent BS-Vi emission regulations will come in-effect in India starting April 2020. With the deadline just a year away, carmakers in India are on the edge thinking and contemplating on strategies of how to manage this transition in the best possible way. Several automobile manufacturers have announced as to when they will stop manufacturing BS-IV vehicles in India and the latest one to join the bandwagon is Honda Cars India.

Honda Cars India currently sells a total of seven products in the Indian market. In the current fiscal year, it has introduced three all-new products which include the second generation Amaze, the new-generation CR-V and the 10th generation Honda Civic. The Japanese automaker has also discontinued its original entry-level offering, the Brio hatchback with the Amaze now standing as the entry point for the brand in India. So far, there are no plans to launch a replacement for the Brio anytime soon.

In the near future, we might see Honda launching an all-new compact SUV in the Indian market. Currently, it sells the WR-V in the sub-4-meter space, the BR-V in the mid-size space while the CR-V sits right at the top in the premium SUV segment. There is a huge gap in-between the BR-V and the CR-V which we might see being filled soon.

Honda has confirmed that it is going to launch a hybrid vehicle in India in the next three years time. The company has also said that it is going to bring in an all-electric vehicle to its portfolio but that will depend on a number of different factors.
