The second generation of Maruti Ertiga which was launched in India last year is now commanding a 6 month waiting period for top-spec ZXI+ and ZDI+ trims.
The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has been the unchallenged leader in the MPV segment in India in terms of sales. And with the launch of its second generation iteration, the demand has increased substantially. With bookings soaring to new heights and an already strained production line, this newly launched MPV is now commanding a staggering waiting period for new bookings.
According to a recent report, for the top-spec trims i.e. the ZXI+ (petrol) and the ZDI+ (diesel), the current waiting period for new bookings stands at 6 months. For the lower spec ZXI and ZDI, the waiting period stands at 4.5 months.

The second generation Maruti Ertiga offers a lot more ‘car’ in comparison to its older generation iteration at an almost similar price. For starters it is based on Suzuki’s lightweight HEARTECT platform which is not only stiffer but considerably lighter in comparison to the previous one. This makes this new iteration better in terms of safety and supeiror in terms of fuel-efficiency.
The design of the new Maruti Ertiga is also quite unique and is not a derivative of the Swift family like before. Its is sharp and edge and has a certain contemprary and styligh stance to it. Same can be said about the interiors which are available in dual-tone colour scheme and a plathora of creature comforts on the top-sec trims.

Come of the highlights of the second-gen Maruti Ertiga include halogen projector headlamps, automatic climate control, a touchscreen infotainment system, steering mounted audio controls, reclining seat on all rows, adjustable headrests and a segment largest boot capacity.
With the second generation update, the Maruti Ertiga received an all-new 1.5-litre petrol engine in replacement of the existing 1.4-litre unit. It is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard and is also available with a 4-speed torque converter automatic on select variants. The diesel engine remains the same 1.3-litre DDiS unit. However, it will be replaced with an in-house developed 1.5-litre oil-burner closer to the BS-VI emission deadline.

Soon Maruti Suzuki is planning to introduce a new six-seater variant of the Ertiga. The same is going to sit above the top-spec ZXI+ and the ZDI+ trims. And is going to retail through Nexa dealership outlets.
