Mahindra XUV 300 is going to fall in-between the price range of INR 8 lakh to INR 12 lakh. Its primary competition is going to be with the Vitara Brezza.
With the launch of the XUV300 scheduled for the 14th of February next month, Mahindra once again plans to make its mark in the current demand for sub-compact SUVs in India. Based on the same platform as that of the SsangYong Tivoli, the XUV300 is expected to be priced in-between the range of INR 8 lakh to INR 12 Lakh.
With this, its primary competition is going to be with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport as well as the Tata Nexon. In addition to this, due to the unique variant line-up of this vehicle, its top-end, feature loaded trims with also pitch in with the base and mid-spec variants of the Hyundai Creta and the Nissan Kicks.

Engine specifications of the XUV300 are still under the wraps. However, the automaker has revealed that the same is going to launch in India with both petrol as well as diesel engine options. The petrol derivative is going to be a 1.2-litre, turbocharged unit. On the other hand, the diesel engine will be a 1.5-litre unit. The former will produce 200 Nm of peak torque. While the latter is going to churn out 300 Nm of peak torque.
With these figures, atleast in terms of their torque outputs, the Mahindra XUV 300 exceeds its competition and even vehicles placed in a segment above. It is going to launch in India with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard across the range. There will be no automatic transmission option on offer at the time of the launch. However, Mahindra will introduce an AMT unit for this SUV at a later stage.

The petrol derivative of the Mahindra XUV 300 has an ARAI certifies fuel-efficiency figure of 17 km/l. While the same for the diesel engine stands at 20 Km/l.
The XUV300 will retail in a total of three variants. These will be W4, W6 and W8. In addition to this, there will be an additional optional variant sitting above the top-spec W8. Right from the base variant onwards, this SUV is going to get features such as dual airbags along with ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, steering adjustments, power windows on all-four doors among other features.
The optional W8 (O), which essentially competes with the likes of Hyundai Creta, is going to get an equipment list which includes features such as LED projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, dual-zone automatic climate control, sunroof, among other features.
