The trial production of the Kia SP SUV has commenced at the automaker’s manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh with its debut expected around April/May.
Kia Motors is going to launch its first product, a compact SUV based on the SP Concept showcased at the Auto Expo 2018, in India this year. The said vehicle is going to be manufactured out of its all-new facility based in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
Today, the South Korean automaker commenced the trial production of the SP SUV’s production iteration at its expansive facility. With this, we expect the same to make its first public debut sometime during the month of April/May 2019. And consequently launch sometime ahead of the festive season this year.

The Kia SP SUV is based on the same platform as that of the Hyundai Creta. And with prices expected to fall in-between the range of INR 9 lakh to 15 lakh, it is going to compete in the same segment as well. That said, being a Kia product we are expecting the SP Concept based SUV to slightly premium than its Hyundai siblings.
Be it the ride comfort, the number of creature comforts or the quality of the materials used, this all-new Kia product in India is likely to exceed what the competition is offering at the moment.

In terms of its engine specifications, the line-up will include both petrol as well as diesel engine options. Both these engines are going to be a 1.5-litre unit. And are going to come with both manuals as well as automatic transmission options. Whether these engines are launched in BS-VI or BS-IV guise remains to be seen.
