Nissan Kicks subcompact crossover will launch in India on the 22nd of January this year. Its primary competition will include the likes of Hyundai Creta.
in order to compete with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki S-Cross and the Renault Capture, Nissan India is all set to launch its offering, the Kicks, in our country on the 22nd of January 2019. Since it will compete in the compact SUV segment, we expected Nissan to price this subcompact crossover somewhere in-between the range of INR 10 lakh to INR 15 lakh.
The India spec Nissan Kicks, unlike its European counterpart is based on the same platform as that of the Nissan Terrano. This has helped the Japanese automaker to increase the said product’s localization and hence it likely to translate that in to an aggressive ex-showroom price. Though the Kicks uses the same underpinnings as that of the Terrano, we found out, in our test drive, that the former is miles ahead in terms of its ride quality and drivability than the latter.

In addition to sharing its platform with the now ageing Terrano, the Nissan Kicks also gets the same engine line-up as its younger sibling. Hence, the petrol derivative comes with a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder engine which is capable of churning out 104 BHP of power along with 142 Nm of peak torque. The diesel engine is also a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder unit which can produce 106 BHP of power along with 240 NM of peak torque.
Nissan has decided not to introduce the Kicks with an automatic gearbox as the time of its launch in January. However, considering the segment, it may consider doing the same if the demand for automatic variants increases.

Other features include automatic climate control, leather upholstery, LED Daytime running lights, projector headlamps among others.
