ABS versions of Bajaj Avenger Street 220 and Cruise 220 are reportedly launching in January 2019. Avenger 180 might get the update later.
After April 2019, all of the motorcycles above 125cc will be equipped with ABS as standard fitment. So, most of the two-wheeler brands are updating their existing models with this safety feature.
The latest one to update its models is Bajaj Auto. Zigwheels reports that Bajaj Avenger Street 220 and Cruise 220 will be soon updated with ABS. Most likely, the updated cruisers will be launched in January itself.
With this update, the prices are set to increase. Expect a hike of around Rs 8,000 for the ABS version. Post launch of Bajaj Avenger Street 220 and Cruise 220 ABS, the non-ABS variants will be discontinued.

As of now, there are no speculations of Avenger Street 180 getting the safety update. All the models above 125cc will be updated with ABS prior the safety norms kick in.
Mechanically, Bajaj Avenger Street 220 and Cruise ABS will continue with the same engine specifications. Both the cruisers get a 220cc oil-cooled DTS-i engine, the same one from Pulsar 220F. The engine produces 19 BHP and 17.5 Nm of peak torque.
There are chances of Bajaj introducing new BS-6 engines here. The emission norms are set to kick in from April 2020.
For transmission purposes, the engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

Bajaj Avenger Street 220 and Cruise look very identical to each other. The only difference is the styling. While Avenger Street follows a modern-day styling with black inserts all over the body, Cruise follows a classic retro appeal.
Avenger Cruise gets heavy chrome inserts, subtle colour options and a windshield. Avenger Street appeals the younger crowd, whereas Cruise fits for the older groups.
Bajaj Avenger offers a generous 16.8 litres of fuel tank capacity. With an estimated mileage of 35 kmpl, the riding range goes up to around 600 kms.
Both the variants offer LED DRLs, Auto-Headlamps, low-slung seating, and windshields. However, Cruise 220 offers a digital instrument cluster additionally, which shows Speed, Odometer, Clock and Trip Meter.
Bajaj Avenger Street 220 and Cruise are priced the same at Rs 96,992 (ex-showroom). With ABS update, the prices could go up to Rs 1.05 Lakhs.

Still, it is one of the cheapest priced cruisers in India. It rivals against Suzuki Intruder 150, which is priced nearly same.
