The Mahindra S201 compact SUV, set to compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, is going to get its official name announced today. Ahead of its official name announcement, there have been a number of rumors stating that the homegrown automaker will either going to call this SUV as the Inferno or the XUV 300.
The Mahindra S201 compact SUV, as you may be aware, is a rebadged and re-engineered version of the Ssanyong Tivoli. Just like the Alturas, this vehicle is also going to get its share of mechanical tweaks and its different engine specifications before it goes on sale in the Indian market.
Ahead of its name announcement which is scheduled for today, images completely revealing its interiors have leaked on the internet. These images give us a detailed account of what the cabin of the new Mahindra S201 is going to look like.
For starters, this compact SUV is going to offer a dual-tone colour scheme of black and beige. In order to complement these, there are a number of different silver accents distributed across the cabin as well.

The dashboard comes with a layered design. The central console gets a familiar design layout seen on some other Mahindra cars as well. The steering wheel is indigenously Mahindra and comes with mounted control for audio and telephony.
From what it looks like, the interiors of the Mahindra S201 come with a generous amount of cubby holes and storage spaces. For comfort, for the driver, there is a central arm-rest as well. The overall design layout is identical to the Ssangyong Tivoli.
At the back, there seems to be enough space for three people sitting abreast. The rear seat even comes with three adjustable headrests. And is not used, the middle seat also employs a central armrest.

In terms of features, it seems that the Mahindra S201 is going to come with a complete package. For starters, it will feature an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system which is going to come with Android Auto and Apple Car play.
Talking about the engine specifications, the S201 is likely to come with the same engine specifications as seen on the recently launched Mahindra Marazzo. This means that the diesel engine is going to be a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder unit paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. This engine will produce 120 BHP of power along with 300 Nm of peak torque. Details regarding the petrol engine for the S201 are still under the wraps.
Since the Mahindra S201 is going to compete in the sub-compact SUV segment, Expect its prices to fall in-between the range of INR 7.5 lakh to INR 10 lakh. Apart from the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, this SUV is also going to compete against the likes of Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and the upcoming Hyundai Leonis (QXI).
