The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R 2019 generation update will see this popular compact hatchback arrive in India with a completely new personality. Be it its exteriors, interiors, features or safety, the new iteration of the WagonR is likely to see improvement across all parameters.
As we have informed you in our earlier reports that the new Maruti Wagon R will launch in India sometime during the first half of 2019. That said, recent media reports state that the launch of the new iteration of this hatchback is infact scheduled for as early as next month i.e January 2019.
Unlike other recent Maruti cars, the 2019 Wagon R is unlikely to use the Suzuki’s new lightweight HEARTECT platform. Instead, it is going to use a slightly modified version of the existing vehicle’s platform. The same will be done in order to keep the prices of the vehicle in check.

In terms of its engine specifications, the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R 2019 generation update will get the same engine which currently powers the existing iteration of this hatchback. This 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine is capable of producing 64 BHP of power along with 90 Nm of peak torque.
The transmission responsibilities will be taken care of by a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard across the range. That said, Maruti is also going to launch an AMT gearbox with the generation update of this hatchback. It is likely to be available in across more than one variant.

In terms of its design, going by the recent spy shot which came to light recently, the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R 2019 is going to look completely different from the current version. That said, it will still retain its signature tall-boy stance.
On the inside, expect a complete overhaul of the car’s dashboard layout. The design for the door trims is also to change. In addition to this, there will be a significant increase in the number of features and creature comforts on offer. Expect the new Wagon R to come with features such as a touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, steering mounted audio controls among other basic kits.

In order to comply with the safety regulations which come in effect starting next year, the new WagonR will get dual airbags, ABD with EBD, ISOFIX child seat anchorage along with rear parking sensors as standard across the range.
Due to increased features, better safety equipment and stronger chassis, expect the new iteration of the Maruti Wagon R to get a slightly expensive price tag. That said, the prices will continue to fall in the range of INR 4 lakh to INR 6.5 lakh.
