Ford India today unveiled the Ford Fiesta 2011 with automatic transmission in India to a select group of media. As per the previous announcement by Ford at the launch of MT variants, the automatic transmission on the Ford Fiesta 2011 is advanced 6 speed dual clutch Powershift automatic system. Dual Clutch automatic transmission is an advanced type of Automatic transmission compared to the conventional type of system with torque converters. This type of system has more performance and better fuel economy compared to the torque converter types. The official launch is likely to happen in January 2012 at the Auto Expo 2012 in New Delhi.

This kind of automatic transmission is not available in other cars of this segment and will be a plus point for the Fiesta 2011. However, the price of the Fiesta 2011 is already on the higher side in this segment which will be further for the Fiesta automatic 2011 as the AT option is available only on the top end variants of the Fiesta. So keeping in mind the price factor in the segment, Ford has introduced the automatic transmission only with the Petrol engine option.
