Yamaha FZ and YZF series will soon sport Bluetooth-enabled instrument clusters. The update will most likely come next year, along with new BS-6 engines onboard.
Yamaha India is planning to bring the facelifted version of Yamaha FZ in 2019. With that, it also plans to upgrade all of its bike with BS-6 engines. However, premium bikes from the brand will also get Bluetooth enabled instrument clusters.
Probably by next year, Yamaha plans to update its two-wheelers with BS-6 engines. It has already started testing next-gen Yamaha FZ-S. It also plans to upgrade Yamaha R15 V3 with Anti-Braking system.
Earlier, Bluetooth connected speedometers came on very premium motorcycles like Ducati. However, now, it has come to the regular models as well. TVS Ntorq 125 and KTM Duke 390 are two examples who have Bluetooth instrument clusters.

The Bluetooth connected speedometer is likely to debut on bikes like Yamaha FZ-S, FZ-25, Fazer, Fazer 25, R15 V3 and more premium bikes. As per initial reports, Yamaha plans to shift its focus from the mass-production commuter segment to premium bikes segment (Above 150cc).
Features onboard the speedometer will include notification alert, call alert, turn-by-turn GPS navigation, controlling music and advanced telematics and information about the bike. For using the Bluetooth cluster, the user will have to first download an Application on the phone.
The cluster will also display information like distance covered, clock, RPM, average fuel economy, top-speed achieved and riding range. This information will also be shown on the mobile application.

As per Yamaha, in recent times, the Indian buyers are more inclined towards technology. The usage of smartphones has increased in a person’s life and its integration with the bike would result in better results.
With this upgrade, the prices are set to increase by a margin. However, Yamaha believes that the buyers will agree to pay more for this particular feature. As of now, not many bikes offer a Bluetooth connected speedometer, and definitely not under Rs 1.5 Lakhs.
Yamaha FZ and R15 are the best sellers of the brand. While the FZ clocks over 20,000 units per month on an average, R15 garners over 10,000 units. Riding on their success, Yamaha now plans to focus on these bikes rather than sub-150cc bikes.

The Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer is known for its low powered performance bikes. Yamaha YZF R15 V3 and RX100 are the biggest examples of that.
