In order to compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20 and the Honda Jazz, the Tata Motors is soon going to introduce the 45X concept based hatchback in India.
In the latest media report, senior management at Tata Motors has stated that the launch of this premium hatchback could happen sometime during the second quarter of 2019 i.e. in-between the months of July to September.
The Tata 45X hatchback will be Tata Motors first vehicle which will use the automaker’s all-new Alpha platform. Recent spy shots indicate that this vehicle, just like other recent Tata products will bear quite a lot of resemblance with its concept iteration.
But the 45X hatchback is not the only Tata product for which we have been eagerly waiting for. The homegrown automaker recently confirmed that it will launch the Harrier SUV in India during the month of January next year. With the 45X scheduled for August, that’s two high-octane launches from Tata within the gap of just 7 months.

Both the Harrier (the H5X concept) and the 45X concept were first showcased at this year Auto Expo. At the event, Tata Motors confirmed that both these car’s production iterations will be almost identical to their respective co0ncept iterations. With the Harrier (H5X) breaking cover recently, our hopes for the Tata 45X hatchback are quite high.
The 45X’s recent spy shots reveal that the front of the car resembles its concept iteration to a great extent. From the side though, the hatchback appears to get the character lines of the Tiago. That said, the rear is again exclusive to the 45X and so are the multi-spoke alloy wheels. The Tata 45X hatchback is the second Tata product that is based on the IMPACT 2.0 design language of the automaker.

From what we can tell you from the various spy shots, just like the exteriors, the interiors of the 45X is going to be quite exciting. We believe that it is going to come with the largest touchscreen infotainment system in the segment. And that too in the floating configuration. Expect the Tata 45X hatchback to come with a dual-tone cabin upholstery. In addition to this, you can expect this hatchback to come with a plethora of features and creature comforts.
So far, there is no official word on the engine specifications of the Tata 45X. However, it would be safe to say that it might get the reworked versions of the Nexon’s engine line-up. The petrol engine will be a 1.2-litre unit while the diesel is likely to be the 1.5-litre unit. With its launch scheduled for the month of August, there are chances that Tata introduces this car with BS-VI complain engines.
