New Maruti Alto 800 is going to launch in India by the end of 2019 or early 2020. Here are all that changes and upgrades that you can expect from it.
As you must be aware, the next generation Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 is currently under development. It is likely that the new iteration of this compact hatchback will launch in India by the end of the year 2019. In addition to the aesthetic upgrades, it is also going to come with some significant mechanical upgrades as well.
For instance, the new Maruti Alto 800 (Read Also) will have to meet the new safety and emission norms. For these, it is likely to get an all-new stiffer chassis and a set of new BS-VI complaint engines.
Most likely, Maruti is going to develop the new Alto 800 on Suzuki’s lightweight HEARTECT platform. It offers the required structural rigidity while at the same time its light construction helps in increasing the net fuel-efficiency of the vehicle. Furthermore, the safety blanket is not going to be just hardware related. There will be several driver assistance systems also on offer.

For instance, right from the base variant onwards, you can expect dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts and rear parking sensors as standard fitments. Top-end variants are likely to offer rear parking camera, rear wash-wipe and defroster as well.
There have been a number of speculations regarding the engine of the new Maruti Alto 800. The current buzz in the media states that a new 600cc will be introduced to Alto’s line-up. This is the same engine which does its duty in the Japanese spec Alto. It is already complaint to upcoming BS-VI emission regulations. In addition to this, thanks to its technology and construction, it will be able to deliver a high mileage figure.

In addition to these mechanical changes, the new Maruti Alto 800 will also get a significant aesthetic upgrade as well. The new iteration is likely to get more rugged and swelled up exterior design. This will be in-line with the current fascination of the Indian population with SUV inspired design.
On the inside, there will be some generous feature upgrades in comparison to the current model. In sync with the competition and customer demand, expect the new Maruti Alto 800 to come with a touchscreen infotainment system.

As far as the prices go, expect them to increase. This is primarily going to be because of the new platform, engine and the addition of features and safety equipment. Expect the prices to fall in-between the range of INR 2.5 lakh to INR 4 lakh.
