KTM Duke 125 has been spotted testing without camouflage. As per our dealer sources, the baby KTM will launch in India by year-end or January 2019. It will be the first 125cc performance oriented bike.
We reported that KTM plans to bring the Duke 125 to the Indian markets. It manufactures Duke 125 in India but just for export purposes. Here we have a fresh spy video of the baby KTM testing on Indian roads. The person who was recording the video asked the tester of Duke 125 about the bike and he replied ‘125’. As seen in the video, the test mule seems to be without any badging and KTM’s heavy graphics. Along with the 125cc Duke, KTM might also introduce the Duke 790.
KTM Duke 125 gets a design inspired by the 1290 SuperDuke. However, the spotted testing mule looks similar to the previous-generation 125cc Duke. Probably to keep the costs controlled, KTM might use the older generation for the Indian market.

Powering the bike, it a 124.6cc liquid-cooled engine. The engine produces 15 BHP and 11.8 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The power figures are much higher than regular 125cc bikes and also a couple of 150-160cc bikes as well.
KTM Duke 125 follows Superduke’s design and borrows some features from Duke 200 and Duke 390. So, the features onboard the Duke 125 include full LED headlights, TFT instrument cluster, front and rear disc brakes with ABS setup. It also uses the split LED headlights.
The naked bike is built on the same Steel Trellis Frame, that comes in other Dukes as well. It also uses the side exhaust muffler, instead of underbelly exhaust unit. The bike will come with USD forks at the front and a WP unit at the rear. The dry weight of the bike is 137 Kgs.

However, in a market like India, a performance-oriented 125cc motorcycle is something new. 150cc and above are considered as lifestyle bikes. However, KTM bikes have been huge till now and this might also garner good sales.
For a better demand, KTM Duke 125 needs to be priced lesser than the Yamaha R15 V3. So, we expect the prices to be down to Rs 1.1 Lakhs. The R15 starts off at Rs 1.25 Lakhs. Duke 125 will also compete with other naked bikes in the similar price range like Bajaj Pulsar NS200 and TVS Apache RTR 200 4V.
Expect the KTM Duke 125 to launch by January 2019, the latest. Duke 790 is also reportedly launching with or around the Duke 125. Later by mid-2019, KTM will launch the dual-purpose 390 Adventure.
