To regain its market share in the scooter market, Hero is planning to launch 2 new scooters by 2019. One is a 125cc and another one might be a 110cc scooter. It will launch Maestro Edge 125 in early 2019.
At the launch of new Hero Destini 125, the two-wheeler maker revealed its plans for the future. It is planning to launch a sportier 125cc scooter in early 2019. Most probably, it will be Maestro Edge 125. Maestro 125 was showcased at 2018 Auto Expo. Along with this, it might also launch a new 110cc scooter. Its main plan is to have around 6 scooters in its portfolio, to take on the dominance of Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India.
Hero launched its Xtreme 200R motorcycle in July this year and last week, it launched the Destini 125. It has Maestro Edge 125, a new 110cc scooter, Xpulse 200 ADV bike and a rumoured 300cc naked bike in the upcoming lineup. In the current scooter lineup, it has Pleasure, Maestro Edge and Duet. All these are 110cc scooters.

The Indian two-wheeler manufacturer is mainly known for its best-selling commuter motorcycles. Hero Splendor is one of the most selling two-wheelers in India and has been on the top for many months. Meanwhile, in the scooter segment, it has a very average play.
In the scooter segment, Hero has a share of mere 10.42%, whereas Honda has a 60% share. The second position is taken by TVS and Hero plans to take that position. TVS has the much popular Jupiter and Ntorq, which help mainly for its sales.

Hero also hopes that Destini 125 will provide a tough competition to its segment players. As of now, it is one of the most affordable 125cc scooters in India. It is around 2000 lesser than Access 125 and 5,000 lesser than the Activa 125. Mahindra Gusto is the cheapest one with a starting price of Rs 51,000.
The Destini 125 is priced starting at Rs 54,650 up to Rs 57,500. It gets a 125cc air-cooled engine that puts out 8.7 BHP on tap. The features onboard include side stand indicator, digi-analogue speedometer, boot lamp and charging port. However, it misses out on an optional disc brake.

Along with the scooter market, the two-wheeler maker also plans to capture share in the entry-level premium motorcycle segment (200-300cc). In this segment, it has already launched the Xtreme 200R, which is the cheapest 200cc motorcycle. Xpulse 200 will launch in early 2019.
