1:13 PM- Prices revealed!. The 2018 Ford Aspire is going to retail at a starting price of INR 5.55 lakhs. Top-end diesel derivative will retail at INR 8.14 lakhs. The top-end 1.5-litre petrol engine with the 6-speed automatic transmission is going to retail at INR 8.49 lakhs (ex-showroom).
1:10 PM- The new Aspire comes with dual-airbags, ABS with EBD as standard across all variants. Top-end variants come with 6-airbags, a segment first.
1:05 PM- The interiors of the 2018 Ford Aspire remains the same as before. However, there is a new centre console and a redesigned central tunnel. The top-end variants will get a new SYNC3 touchscreen infotainment system. Just like the freestyle, it comes with dual USB ports, mobile phone tray.

12:45 PM- Since the 2018 iteration of the Aspire is a mid-cycle update, the compact sedan continues to retail with the same measurements. Hence, it measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,695 mm in width and 1,525 mm in height. It will continue to have a wheelbase of 2,491 mm with a ground clearance of 174 mm.
12:40 PM- In terms of mileage, we expect the new Aspire’s 1.2-litre petrol engine to promise a fuel-efficiency figure of around 21 km/l. The 1.5-litre petrol will offer around 18 km/l. While the 1.5-litre diesel engine is likely to offer 25 km/l.
12:35 PM- The 1.5-litre petrol engine produces 110 BHP along with 146 Nm of peak torque. While the 1.5-litre diesel engine churns out 99 BHP along with 215 Nm of peak torque. The former comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission as standard. While the later gets a 5-speed manual transmission as standard.
12:30 PM- Apart from the introduction of the new 1.2-litre petrol engine, the rest of the engine specs remains the same as before. It will continue to come with the 1.5-litre petrol and the 1.5-litre diesel engine as well.
12:25 PM- The most update that this sedan is going to receive is the addition of a new petrol engine. The older 1.2-litre motor makes way for a new 1.2-litre motor from Ford’s Dragon series. This engine is capable of producing 94 BHP of power along with 120 Nm of peak torque. It will continue to come with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard.

12:15 PM- With the design and feature updates that the Aspire receives, it will once again stand in direct competition in the compact sedan segment. It competitors include the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze, Tata Tigor and the Volkswagen Ameo.
12:10 PM- We are expecting the prices of the updated iteration of this compact sedan to largely remain the same. They will continue to fall in the range of INR 5.72 lakhs to 8.69 lakhs.
12:05 PM- Just like the Freestyle, the mid-cycle update of the Aspire comes with restyled front and rear bumpers. There is a new chrome studded front grille adding to the car’s premium appeal.

The 2018 Ford Aspire facelift is going to launch in India today. In this live blog, we bring you regular updates from the launch event of this compact sedan which is to challenge the likes of Maruti Dzire, Honda Amaze and the Hyundai Xcent.
Ford India has already revealed the exterior and interior updates that the new Aspire is going to get. On the exterior design front, the overall design of the sedan remains the same as before. That said, it now comes with newly designed front and rear bumpers.
The housing for the fog-lamps has been surrounded by chrome inserts which gives the front end of the car a premium design. Not only this but the front grille is also slightly tweaked.

Inside the cabin, the overall layout remains the same. However, the centre console now gets a new design. Top-end variants now come with Ford’s new SYNC3 infotainment system, additional power outputs and a new centre tunnel design. The rest of the specifics of the cabin are same as before.
The biggest change, that the aspire receives with this update is a new petrol engine. This gasoline driven unit is the same one which made its debut in the Freestyle crossover. The 1.2-litre engine is from Ford’s Dragon series. It is capable of producing 94 BHP along with 120 Nm of peak torque. It is going to come as standard with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The new Ford Aspire will continue with the 1.5-litre petrol and the 1.5-litre diesel engine having the same power outputs. The former comes with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. While the latter gets a 5-speed manual unit as standard.
The 2018 Ford Aspire facelift will continue to offer a similar feature list and then some more. In term of safety, it gets dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC and rear parking sensors as standard. Top-end variants come as standard with 6-airbags.
