Nissan Micra, the Global Small car by Nissan is now under production commercially in India. The small and beautiful car by Nissan will be exported to Europe, Middle East and Africa from India. The production has started at the Oragadam Plant near Chennai in India.
This is the beginning of a new chapter for Nissan in India. Nissan plans to make Chennai plant a global hub for car manufacturing and export its cars world over from India. Nissan has recently conducted its Test Export of Nissan Micra from India to Europe.
The Micra will go on display at showrooms from 25 May 2010 booking will start on the same day. Customers can book their car by paying some initial booking amount. The delivery of Nissan Micra to the buyers will start in July 2010. Micra is expected to further heat-up the already hot small car segment in India which is growing most rapidly in terms of absolute numbers of cars sold in India.
With growing awareness towards carbon emissions and global environmental issues, people world over are considering smaller and less polluting cars for their transportation needs compared to large cars, so the small car market is growing not only in India, but world over. Nissan expects to sell over 80,000 units of Nissan Micra in the current financial year. The maximum capacity of 640 acers Chennai the plant is however 2,00,000 units per year.
