Tata Tiago NRG is a cross hatch with the same credentials as the standard Tiago along with some additional body kit and ground clearance. Launching on the 12th of September this year.
After a successful stint with the Tiago in the compact hatchback segment, Tata Motors is now planning to reap the benefits of this car even more by launching its crosshatch derivative. It will be called the Tata Tiago NRG and its likely to launch in India on the 12th of September 2018. Going by the segment in which this new compact crossover is going to fall in, the Tiago NRG will compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Celerio and the Ford Freestyle.
The leaked details about the Tata Tiago NRG states that this crossover iteration of this compact hatchback will stand in exact proportions as the standard hatchback. However, the ground clearance will increase from 170mm to 180mm. Other than this, the NRG will retail Tiago’s exterior design. That said, as in the case with all hatchback based crossovers, it will get an additional body kit surrounding the aesthetics.

Other than this, the crossover will get faux skid plates on the front and at the back, below the bumper. Blacked out grille, blacked out wing mirrors and blacked out roof have are also thrown into the picture. In addition to all this, the Tata Tiago NRG also comes with new and chunky, multi-spoke alloy wheels. Furthermore, the cross-hatch comes with a black plastic trim in-between the tail-lamps with the Tiago and NRG nomenclature on it. Tata Motors has also added a small but stylish rear spoiler in the mix as well.
Inside, the Tiago NRG gets the same dashboard design as the standard hatchback. However, just like the exteriors, the cabin also gets some minor cosmetic updates. For instance, the upholstery is all black in colour. And it is highlighted by silver and contrasting orange colour accents to liven things up. We are expecting Tata Motors to launch only a single variant of the Tiago NRG which will be based on the top-spec XZ+ trim. As result, expect the cross-hatch to come loaded with all the bells and whistles as the standard Tiago.

Apart from the raised ride height and the required suspension tuning for the same, we do not expect any significant mechanical update in the NRG Tiago. This cross-hatchback will be available on both the petrol as well as diesel derivatives. The petrol version will be powered by the 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder motor capable of producing 82 BHP of power. While the diesel mil will continue to be the 1.05-litre, 3-cylinder engine producing 69 BHP. There will be no AMT gearbox option on offer and as standard, there will be a 5-speed manual box.
There will be three colour options on sale for the Tiago NRG. These will include Malabar Silver, Canyon Orange and Fuji White. As mentioned before, the NRg will compete against the likes of Celerio X and the Ford Freestyle. As a result of this, its price is likely to be around the mark of INR 5.5 Lakhs.
