Latest reports say that Hyundai is going to launch 6 new Utility vehicles in India in the next 3-5 years. The cars will range from Rs 5 lakhs to 40 lakhs. It includes Micro SUVs, compact SUV and 7-seater SUVs. Read ahead to get more details.
Hyundai India has a wide range of car here. From compact hatchbacks to premium SUVs, it has covered most of the segment. However, it does not have one in the micro SUV and sub-compact SUV segment. Now, according to the latest reports, Hyundai is going to launch 6 new UVs in India within the next 3-5 years, till 2023. ET Auto reports that the new cars will come in the price range starting from Rs 5 Lakhs up to Rs 40 Lakhs. The list includes a sub-compact SUV, a new generation of i20 Active, new-generation Creta, 7-seater version of Creta, new generation Tucson and 7-seater version of Tucson. These cars are on Hyundai’s portfolio for the next 5 years.
QXi, the sub-compact SUV will launch first in India, in 2019. The speculated name of the car is Hyundai Carlino. It will be priced competitively to take on the likes of Ford EcoSport and Vitara Brezza. Currently, this segment is very popular because they give a proper SUV feeling under Rs 10-11 Lakhs.

Following which, Hyundai’s Micro SUV will launch in India. Recently, there was a report stating Hyundai, Datsun and Maruti Suzuki are developing Micro SUVs to compete with the only one in the market, the Mahindra KUV 100.
Now, Creta is Hyundai’s one of the largest selling cars in India. In the future plan, there is a new-generation Creta and also an extended 7-seater version of the SUV. For this, Y K Koo, MD of Hyundai Motor India, told ET that in the immediate future, the company would have built a customer base of over 4 lakh Creta owners who would be looking for an upgrade; Hyundai does not want its current Creta owners to go to the competition.

Also, in line is Hyundai Tucson new-generation and a 7-seater version of the Tucson. Currently, Tucson competes with Jeep Compass, Honda CR-V, and Isuzu MU-X. The 7-seater version of the Tucson will take on Fortuner and Endeavour. In order to reduce the prices, both the Tucson will be produced in India, instead of CKD units, which are currently bought.
Also, the new-generation of Hyundai i20 Active will launch. Recently it got a minor cosmetic facelift and it remains unchanged since the time it was launched. It is one of the few crossovers/adventure cars in the Indian market. These were all the cars on the list, which are going to launch in the next 3-5 years.

The UV segment is one of the fastest growing segments in India. In the next 3-5 years, it is going to see around 50 new launches till the next 3-5 years. As per ET, various automakers say that the size of this segment could go up to 1.5 Billion units, easily.
