Recently, we had reported that Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Petrol might launch soon in India. When we searched for S-Cross petrol, it showed ‘starting at Rs 7.8 Lakhs’ in the meta description of Maruti’s website. However, it is going to launch in India and the expected date is in the first quarter of 2019. It will come with the latest 1.5 Litre K15B petrol engine, which debuted in the new Ciaz. Currently, the S-Cross comes only in the tried and tested 1.3 Litre DDiS diesel engine. Earlier, it used to come with a more powerful 1.6 Litre diesel engine, which was discontinued in the mid-life facelift it got last year. Also, a report by GaadiWaadi says that the S-Cross petrol will be the most fuel-efficient SUV in its segment.

The Maruti S-Cross petrol will get the new 1.5 Litre petrol engine. With this engine, it will give ARAI tested mileage figure of more than 18 kmpl. Also, it will feature the SHVS on petrol, which helps overall fuel efficiency. At this mileage, it will give 2 kmpl or more mileage than its biggest competitor, Hyundai Creta.
This petrol engine just made its debut on the 2018 Ciaz. On Ciaz, it gives an ARAI mileage figure of 21.56 KMPL. Now, the Ciaz weighs around 1500 kgs and the S-Cross weighs around 150 kgs more. So, it might come with an ARAI mileage figure of 18.5-19 kmpl.

The 1.5 Litre petrol engine produces around 104 BHP of power and 138 Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed Manual Transmission and 4-speed AT. The Maruti S-Cross Petrol will also receive the mild-hybrid SHVS system. This system helps the car in mild acceleration without any speed sensitivity. If you accelerate aggressively, then the petrol engine takes over automatically.
Also, there are certain reports that say by the end of the year, the 1.3 Litre DDiS diesel engine will also be replaced. A new in-house developed diesel engine might replace the Fiat-sourced DDiS engine. The new diesel engine will be BS-VI compliant and might debut first in the upcoming 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.
The S-Cross recently got its safety feature list updated. Now, speed alert warning system, seat belt reminder, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, Dual Front Airbags, seat belt pre-tensioners with force limiters and ISOFIX are standard fitments across all variants. The same process will be done in the Maruti S-Cross Petrol.
