Latest rendering sketches by an independent sketch artist showcase what the next generation Ford EcoSport could look like. Recent media reports state that the American automobile manufacturer’s compact SUV for the Indian market can receive its 2nd generation update sometime around the year 2020. The rendering of the EcoSport takes its inspiration from the Ford Kuga, which is sort of the bigger brother of the former and merges it with what the Changan CS35 sold in the Chinese market looks like. This has resulted in a bigger and bolder version of this compact SUV.
The Ford EcoSport has been in India for quite a while now. During its tenure in our country, the compact SUV has found many buyers and has spawned an equal number of fans thanks to its muscular design and pleasant driving credentials. The Ford EcoSport recently underwent its mid-cycle face-lift in India. Apart from redesigned exteriors, it came with a completely overhauled interior. Not only this, but we also saw the introduction of an all-new 1.5-litre petrol engine from Ford’s Dragon series. Initially, however, Ford let go of the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine due to its low demand in the previous versions. However, it did introduce it later in an all-new ‘S’ trim which now sits above the Titanium+ and gets some additional kit as well.
Coming back to the next-generation iteration of this vehicle, we expect Ford to radically change its exterior styling. Buyers are now rooting for premium yet muscular aesthetics. The company is likely to use a different platform for EcoSport’s Indian spec version in comparison to the SUV’s international spec version. The company can borrow the underpinnings of the new Mahindra B-SUV to keep the costs low. this will also help the automaker to increase the dimensions of this SUV and freeing up space on the inside, resulting in a roomier cabin.
