TVS Zeppelin 220 Cruiser was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. We expect it to launch in India by 2019-20 to take on the Bajaj Avenger and Suzuki Intruder. The expected price of the cruiser is around Rs 1.1 Lakhs, because of its premium features.
Earlier, at the 2018 Auto Expo, TVS showcased its showstopper. The TVS Zeppelin 220 Cruiser stood with all its pride. The concept was showcased, which was basically a hybrid-electric cruiser. Like Suzuki’s Mild Hybrid System, this system on Zeppelin will work the same way. There are no updates on the cruiser yet, but we expect this cruiser to launch in India by end of 2019 or early 2020. Of course, the bike will come with BS-VI engines. It came with an aggressive bold stance and might be a power cruiser. Plus it is a TVS bike, so automatically it will be a hit, considering the brand’s latest offerings like the Ntorq. The expected price of this cruiser is around Rs 1.1-1.2 lakhs easily. At this price, it will take on the evergreen Bajaj Avenger 220 twins and Suzuki Intruder.

When we talk about the design, expect a striking body like the other TVS bikes. The upcoming Zeppelin Cruiser 220 would not be the exact copy of the Concept version but is still going to carry forward several aesthetic elements. Design elements such as upside-down gold anodized telescopic forks, the Go-Pro type camera on the top of the headlamp cowl and the flat handlebar would not be carried to the production model.
It is expected to come with a Mild Hybrid 220cc engine. Basically, the initial acceleration and ignition process will be done by the Electric motor. After the first few seconds of acceleration, the petrol engine will take over the motor. This system comes in Suzuki’s SHVS system.

The 220cc engine produces around 20 BHP of max. power and 18.5 Nm of max. torque. Transmission duties might be done by a 6-speed gearbox. The Hybrid system will be done by a 1200 watts assist motor with a 48V lithium-ion battery.
The TVS Zeppelin Cruiser 200 concept model came with features such as LED headlamp, compact instrument console with an analogue rev counter and digital readouts, and split seats. In terms of features, the motorcycle gets gold 41mm USD front forks, a flat handlebar, an HD action camera, Smart Bio-Key feature and dual-channel ABS system.

However, these features are too premium which would not come. So we can expect some of the important features like ABS, Split seats and LED headlamps. It might borrow the instrument console from the TVS Ntorq, which comes with a fully digital Bluetooth integrated console. Also, it can borrow some performance features from the RTR 200 4V.
As we said earlier, TVS Zeppelin 220 Cruiser is expected to launch by end of 2019 or early 2020, after the BS-VI norms kick in. The expected price is around 1.1-1.2 Lakhs for a better competition with the Avenger series and Suzuki Intruder. If the engine displacement goes above 220cc, then it might compete directly with Dominar, Mojo UT 300 and RE 350cc bikes.
