The Citroen C5 Aircross is likely to launch in India around the festive season next year. Prices are estimated to start from INR 14 lakh. Primary competition will be against Jeep Compass, Mahindra XUV 500 and some variants of the Hyundai Creta.
The Citroen C5 Aircross premium SUV could be the first vehicle with which the PSA group could begin its operations in India starting next year. The French automobile giant which also happens to be the second largest car manufacturer in Europe plans to adopt a top-down approach for its debut in India.
A report published in ET Auto suggests that the PSA group is going to first establish its brand image with help of premium Citroen products. The C5 Aircorss is one such vehicle in consideration for the Indian market. With its premium credentials, we estimate it to carry a price tag of around INR 14 Lakh to 18 Lakh. This will make it stand head to head with the likes of Jeep Compass, Mahindra XUV 500 and the Hyundai Creta among the others.

The report further states that the PSA group aims at establishing a couple of pilot dealerships termed as ‘Experience Zones’ across India. These venues will help the brand to introduce itself to buyers in India. After this, the company is going to establish a widespread network distributed across 80 to 100 dealerships for extended reach in the Indian sub-continent.
The Citroen C5 Aircross will be manufactured at the company’s manufacturing plant in Chennai. In the international markets, this compact urban SUV comes with both petrol as well as diesel drivetrains. Upon its launch in India, expect it to come with both the engine options as standard. That said, transmission options are still debatable.

The Citroen C5 is not the only SUV aiming to take a slice of the pie in the premium SUV segment in India. There are several new players set to arrive in India around the same time as the former. Skoda is said to debut the next-generation Yeti, now called as the Koraq in our country next year. In addition to this, the Morris Garages (MG) too has plans to begin operation in India starting next year. Furthermore, Jeep India is also under works of introducing the Renegade SUV, which is bound to offer competition to the in its top-spec variants for the C5.
