The upcoming New Hyundai (Santro) Small Car official name will be announced in October. Speculations are that it might be named as the Santro. Hyundai will launch a contest from August 16 for inviting suggestions for the name of the hatchback.
For a long time, the upcoming new Hyundai hatchback is speculated to be christened as the ‘Santro’. Well, we can confirm it now as the new Hyundai (Santro) small car will be officially named in October. This new hatchback will their entry-level car. It will be a compact hatchback retaining its tall stance. This hatchback has been spied a couple of times while testing. Also, Hyundai is going to host a contest for the suggestion of names for this hatchback, starting from 16th August. The new car will replace the ageing Eon and will come with the latest features. Like the earlier Santro, which had better features than its arch-rival WagonR, this one will also have the same. Now, it will compete with the Alto K10, Renault Kwid and Tata Tiago.

The new Hyundai (Santro) small car will get features such as Electrically Adjustable ORVMs, Steering Mounted Controls, Height Adjustable Driver’s Seat, Automatic Climate Control, Touchscreen Infotainment System, Bluetooth Telephony and LED DRLs. For safety, the hatchback will get ABS with EBD, Dual-Airbags, ISOFIX Child Seat Mounts and Seat-Belt Pretensioners. If it comes with these features, it would be a perfect hit owing to its features. But as we know, Hyundai always gives some more features than its competitors.
The new hatchback will be powered by a 1.0 Litre VTVT petrol engine. It will come only in petrol variant. The engine will churn out 68 BHP of power and 99 Nm of torque. The engine will be mated to a 5-speed Manual transmission. Later, it might also receive an AMT variant in the lineup. The mileage estimated from this car is around 20 KMPL average.

On the exteriors, it will retain its original tall stance with a bigger body. Although, it might look compact, but Hyundai might offer a pretty comfortable cabin space with practical storage options. On the exteriors, it will get a sharp silhouette based on the spy images that we have seen. The colour scheme of the cabin space is speculated to be a black-beige combination.
Now coming to the competition, the first and biggest rival will be the WagonR. The age-old rivalry is back. Other competitors might include some top variants of the Alto K10, Tata Tiago, Renault Kwid and the Datsun GO. Currently, we expect the price to be in the range of Rs 3.5 Lakhs to Rs 5.5 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
