Maruti Ciaz 2018 Facelift iteration is going to get minor cosmetic updates. The biggest update is going to be the addition of a new 1.5-litre petrol engine.
Maruti Suzuki is on the verge of introducing a mid-life facelift iteration of the Ciaz sedan in India. Owing to the vast number of spy shots of the test mule of this car available on the internet, we can safely speculate that the updated model is going to get several minor cosmetic changes. Since this is a mid-life facelift, we are not expecting a major overhaul of the car’s exterior and interior design. The Ciaz in its current iteration was already abundant with features, hence, not too much is expected to change in this department as well. Which brings us to the biggest highlight of this update, the introduction of a new 1.5-litre petrol engine.
Yes, Maruti is going to replace the current 1.4-litre K14, 4-cylinder petrol engine with a new 1.5-litre K15 B petrol engine. The latter is also a 4-cylinder unit and produces 105BHP of power along with 138 NM of peak torque. The K14 unit is capable of producing 92 BHP of power along with 130 N of peak torque. The 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine will continue to do its duties on the oil-burners. This motor is likely to be replaced by a new 1.5-litre engine developed by Maruti in-house either by the end of 2019 or when Maruti decided to give a Ciaz it’s second generation update.

The transmission units will remain the same, be it the manual or the automatic gearboxes. In addition to the replacement of the 1.4-litre petrol engine, the Ciaz will also get Suzuki’s mild-hybrid SHVS technology in the petrol derivative. Other mechanical bits of the car are likely to remain the same. However, the automaker might alter the car’s NVH levels to improve its ride comforts and premium appeal.

Coming back to the design department. As we mentioned earlier, the Maruti Ciaz 2018 facelift will get some minor cosmetic updates. Up-front, the sedan will get a revised bumper, new grille and LED elements in the headlights. Top-spec trims will continue to feature projector elements. At the back, just like the front, the car will get a new bumper and LED elements in the tail-light. With this update, Maruti might introduce a new set of allow wheels for the Ciaz.

Inside the cabin, the Ciaz will continue to come with features like a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Car Play, automatic climate control, leather upholstery, rear AC vents and other creature comforts.
So when is this new Ciaz going to launch in India? Well, since the Auto Expo, there have been rumours that Maruti will launch this car around the month of July/ August this year. Now according to several media reports, it is believed that the Maruti Ciaz 2018 facelift will launch in India on the 6th of August 2018. The Ciaz continues to be the cheapest mid-size executive sedan currently on sale in India in terms of its pricing. With these updates, we expect the prices to alter slightly but still remain aggressively competitive against the competition.
