The Volkswagen T-Cross compact SUV is expected to launch in India during the second half of 2019. Upon launch, it will compete against the likes of Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and the Jeep Renegade.
Volkswagen, the German automobile giant has recently teased a couple of images of the soon to be launched T-Cross compact SUV. In Volkswagen’s global product line-up, the T-Cross is going to sit below the T-Roc. In India however, where we expect it to launch sometime during late 2019, it will be positioned directly below the Tiguan. The company is expected to reveal this vehicle globally around October or November this year. When launched, the T-Cross will compete against the likes of Hyundai Creta and the Renault Duster.
Going by the teaser images, we can clearly see that the T-Cross, like the T-Roc will have a mix of traditional Volkswagen design with a hint of funky aesthetics. The overall silhouette of this SUV boasts of a very crisp layout thanks to sharp creases and character lines. At the front, the T-Cross will get sharp headlamps while at the rear the tail-lamps run across the boot-lid, which looks quite appealing. So far, there are no details regarding the interior design of this compact urban SUV. However, expect it to be on the same lines as that of the new Polo and the T-Roc.

Globally, Volkswagen is going to provide the T-Cross with a wide array of engines. In India however, it is likely that it will come with only one petrol and one diesel engine. Volkswagen has plans to start the manufacturing of their 1.0-litre, TSi engine in India soon. It could be that the automaker decides to put this engine along with a diesel unit in the T-Cross when it is launched in India.
Prices for the T-Cross are expected to start from INR 9 lakh and go up to INR 15 lakh. This will put it in direct contention with the likes of Hyundai Creta and the Renault Duster.
