Mahindra Nuvosport, SUV which replaced the flop Quanto and was overshadowed by the TUV 300, has been discontinued. The news has been confirmed by some dealerships that we have contacted. After the launch of TUV300, the crossover SUV was making more losses than ever with only single-digit sales in every month.
Mahindra has cut down on another of its model, the Nuvosport. It is a crossover SUV which replaced the Quanto. However, after the launch of TUV300, which was similarly priced, it was sidelined. The prices of Nuvosport start at around Rs 8 Lakhs and go up to Rs 10.5 Lakhs (ex-showroom). When confirmed with some of the dealerships, they said the reason was poor sales. It was some of the few crossover SUVs in India. It came with a tall boy stance, like a smaller version of Mahindra Xylo. Nuvosport competed with Tata Nexon, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Honda WR-V and Ford Ecosport. The SUV was launched two years back and has made poor sales since that time. However, there is no such official notification from Mahindra, as the SUV still exists on Mahindra’s website.

Mahindra had heavily reworked on the Quanto and launched the NuvoSport in 2016. Mahindra Nuvosport got a 1.5 Litre mHawk100 engine that produced around 100 BHP worth of power and 240 Nm worth of torque. The same engine comes in the TUV300 too. It was offered with Manual and Automatic transmissions. It was a five-seater compact SUV. The SUV was starting from RS 7.72 Lakhs to Rs 10.5 Lakhs (ex-showroom), which is around TUV’s price. The TUV300 starts from Rs 8.25 Lakhs and goes up to Rs 10.90 Lakhs (ex-showroom). Also, the new TUV300 Plus, a 7-seater variant, has been launched recently. It is priced starting at Rs 9.47 Lakhs (ex-showroom).

Mahindra Nuvosport came with some premium features for its segment. On the exterior, it got LED DRLs, sporty bonnet scoop, tailgate-mounted spare wheel, Electrically adjustable ORVMs and smoked tail lamps. In the interiors, it got a 6.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Eco/Power mode, Start-Stop button, Reverse parking assist, Steering mounted controls, Cruise control, Faux-Pas Leather upholstery and 60:40 adjustable seats. For safety, it got dual airbags, ABS with EBD and Engine Immobilizer.

Meanwhile, another compact SUV by Mahindra might launch this year. The Mahindra S201 has been spied multiple times and might launch by this year-end. The development of this model might have also led to the discontinuation of Mahindra Nuvosport. The reports also suggest that even after its launch, the Nuvosport could sell only 300 units in the first two months.
