The BMW G 310 R and the G 310 GS have launched in India. While the 310 R is a naked roadster, the 310 GS is an adventure bike. The former one is priced at Rs 2.99 Lakhs and the latter one at Rs 3.49 Lakhs (ex-showroom). At these prices, they are the most affordable BMW bikes in India.
A BMW bike around Rs 3 Lakhs, looks like a pretty decent buy. Well, that is the price of the newly launched BMW G 310 R and the G 310 GS. The GS is an adventure bike deriving from the elder GS bikes. The 310 R is a naked roadster, which is also deriving from its elder macho bikes. These bikes are made in partnership with TVS at their Tamil Nadu based factory. That’s why the 310R gets Apache’s ‘Racing Red’ colour. The bike runs on a 313cc liquid cooled engine with a 6-speed wet-clutch gearbox. The 310R gets a muscled up beefy body, with the GS looks a bit sleek and toned. Standard features of both the bikes include ABS, Gold Anodized Upside Down Telescopic Forks, Smoked Turn Signal Lenses, LED Rear Light and Multi-functional LCD display. Both the bikes are produced in partnership with TVS at its plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. As it is BMW’s first try for affordable premium bikes, the G 310 R is priced at Rs 2.99 Lakhs and the G 310 GS is priced at Rs 3.49 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS Design
BMW released bikes under 500cc for the first time. The BMW G 310 R looks like a pure BMW roadster with superb rugged styling. Heavy muscle lines are seen over the bike. In the front, it gets golden upside-down telescopic forks with 300mm disc brakes. The wheels are made of aluminium cast alloys. It gets a multi-functional display atop the headlamp cowl. The fuel tank sure looks beefy enough. Other design elements include a skid plate, rather upswept exhaust and rear disc brakes.

On the other hand, the BMW G 310 GS fills the void place of an adventure-cum-sports bike. It looks like it can go any terrain, still won’t complain. In the front it gets a long GS snout, safely covering the headlamp. Unlike the 310 R, it gets a rather sleek body. The luggage carrier at the rear end, the bigger 19-inch rims and the GS snout makes it look different from the usual bikes we.

BMW G 310 R and BMW G 310 S sport a 313 CC liquid cooled engine. The engine produces 34 BHP @ 9500 RPM worth of power and 28 Nm @ 7500 RPM worth of torque. They deliver a mileage figure of around 30 KMPL and records maximum speed of 143 KMPH. The engine is mated to a Multi-plate wet clutch with a 6-speed transmission.

BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS Suspension And Brakes
For suspension, both the bikes get upside down telescopic forks in the front and adjustable mono-shock at the rear. In terms of braking, it gets disc brakes of 300mm in the front and 240mm disc brakes in the rear. They also feature dual-channel ABS as a standard feature.
BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS Competition
Both face no fierce competition as such. The G 310 R competes with the nearest, KTM Duke 390. On the other hand, the GS competes with Himalayan and will compete with the upcoming KTM 390 Adventure.
