Ford Aspire 2018 facelift will share major design cues with the Ford Freestyle crossover. In addition to restyled aesthetics, it will also get a new cabin layout and a major upgrade in terms of its features. Furthermore, it will also get a new 1.2-litre petrol engine.
Those in the know-how must be aware that Ford India is soon going to introduce the mid-life facelift version of its Aspire compact sedan in India. In a recent report, we brought to your notice that there are rumours of 2018 Ford Aspire launching sometime during the month of June this year. Recently there have been a number of sightings of the test mule of this vehicle in India, indicating towards a debut soon. Now, the automaker has officially revealed some images of the ‘Figo Sedan’, the above 4-meter sedan version of the 2017 Figo hatchback. This vehicle is manufactured in Ford’s Gujarat plant and exported to select international markets.
Though this is not the Aspire sedan that will retail in India, it does give us an insight into what changes we can expect from the refreshed compact sedan. The front of the car gets a major overhaul. Though the design is similar to the current spec version, it gets new, chrome mesh grille. Along with this, the bumper also features a redesigned layout. As a result of all these changes, the front of the Ford Aspire will now look slightly more aggressive and premium than before.

The side profile of the compact sedan will remain the same as before. No major change is expected here. However, Ford might provide the car with new alloy wheels to give it a fresh look. At the back, the design of the boot-lid is slightly altered. This is because of the restyled tail-lamps which have now become slightly elongated in comparison to the current spec version. Also, reciprocating the front bumper design, the rear bumper too gets similar design elements.

The said images do not reveal any details about the interiors of the Ford Aspire 2018 model. However, we can safely assume that its cabin will match with the one seen on the Ford Freestyle. That said, it might get a different colour scheme, for instance, a beige one in order to make it feel a bit premium. In addition to the layout change, the aspire facelift will also get a decent upgrade in terms of its features. Top-end variants will come with Ford’s SYNC3 infotainment system, automatic climate control, steering mounted audio controls among the others features.

The Ford Aspire will get a new petrol engine with this update. It will ditch the current 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine for a new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder motor from Ford’s Dragon series. This new engine is capable of producing 82 BHP along with 115 Nm of peak torque. Ford might discontinue the current 1.5-litre petrol engine from the sedan’s model line-up. However, it will continue to come with the 1.5-litre diesel engine which produces 99 BHP and 215 Nm of peak torque. A 5-speed manual transmission will make it to both the derivatives. However, there will also be a DCT automatic transmission available.
Coming to the prices, we expect them to remain close to the current spec version. However, with the addition of new features and safety equipment, they might alter to a small extent. That said, the 2018 Ford Aspire’s price will continue to fall in the price bracket of INR 5.5 lakh to 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
