The new Renault MPV is expected to launch in India during the second half of 2019. It will use KWID’s CMF-A platform. Also, despite being an MPV it will measure under 4-meters. Prices might undercut the Ertiga. Will get the same 1.0-litre, SCe engine as seen on the KWID but with different configurations.
Renault is currently working on a KWID based MPV for the Indian market. This 7-seater vehicle is expected to launch in our country sometime during the second half of 2019. The front automaker has confirmed that this people carrier will retail at a budget price. Hence, we are expecting it to stand as a direct competitor for the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. Consequently, the prices will fall in the range of INR 5.5 lakh to 8.5 lakh. It seems that the project is nearly in its final stages as recently the first sighting of this Renault MPV was reported in India.
We are already aware that this Renault MPV will share the same CMF-A platform as with the KWID. But due to its 7-seater layout, it will get a slightly longer wheelbase and bigger dimensions. Also, despite being an MPV, Renault has said that this vehicle will measure under 4-meters in length.

The test mule of this MPV seen in the images is highly camouflaged. Hence there is not too much clarity on the design of this vehicle. However, we can clearly see that it comes with traditional Renault characteristics. The front features the classic Renault grille which is also seen on recent cars from the automaker. The headlamp assembly seems to feature wraparound and elongated aesthetics. Other details are quite unclear at the moment.
Since this new Renault MPV is born out of the KWID, expect it to share a number of components with the hatchback. As a result, the cabin layout and some of the elements might be a direct lift from the hatch. Just like the KWID, despite this MPV falling in the budget segment, it will have a decent equipment list. Expect the range-topping models to get a touchscreen infotainment system, all four power windows, electric power steering, steering mounted audio control to name a few.

Recent developments suggest that this budget Renault MPV will have the same engines as that of the KWID. This means that it will come with a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine from automaker’s SCe range. In the current guise, this motor produces 67 BHP along with 91 NM of peak torque. However, with the MPV, the specifications will increase and it might get a turbo as well. As standard, the MPV is going to come with a 5-speed manual gearbox. In addition to this, it will also get a 5-speed AMT unit.
