The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz Facelift is expected to launch by this August. The sedan will get some minor cosmetic changes and added features. However, recent reports suggest that the facelift version will also receive an SHVS tech in a new petrol engine, making it Maruti Suzuki’s first petrol car to get SHVS tech.
Maruti Suzuki is set to upgrade the 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz with a new petrol engine that runs on SHVS tech. The diesel variants of Ciaz have the SHVS tech, which will now come in Ciaz’s new petrol engine. It gets a new 1.5 Litre SHVS tech petrol unit, which replaces the earlier 1.4 Litre K14B unit. SHVS tech refers to ‘Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki’, which uses a mild-hybrid tech with the engines. Ciaz, now, is the first petrol car of Maruti Suzuki to receive this engine upgrade. However, the international versions of Ciaz already come with the SHVS tech engine.

Recently, the same 1.5 Litre K15B engine came in the second-gen Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, but without the SHVS tech, for the Indonesian market. The 1.5 Litre engine produces 104.5 BHP worth power and 138 Nm worth torque. However, this engine comes in the Indonesian version of Ertiga. Currently, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz gets a 1.4 Litre engine that produces 92 PS worth power and 130 Nm worth torque. Definitely, the 1.5 Litre engine will have more power and will be more fuel efficient. Currently, Ciaz sports a 5-speed Manual, 4 Speed AT in the petrol variant and 6-speed MT in the diesel variant.

The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will come with features like projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights and LED tail-lamps. Top-end variant comes with alloy wheels, a touchscreen infotainment display, automatic climate control to name a few. Also on offer is rear view camera with parking sensors, cruise control, smoked headlamps and a possible introduction of a sunroof.

In terms of safety, the sedan will come with dual airbags and ABS as standard fittings, EBD, ISOFIX. The top-end variant might receive 6 airbags. Maruti Suzuki Ciaz starts from Rs 7.83 Lakhs to Rs 11.62 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). It competes with Hyundai Verna, newly-launched Toyota Yaris and Honda City. The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is likely to cost within the same price range, considering the added features.
